How to read the ladder

The ranked ladder is bottom-heavy: the bulk of players are concentrated in Silver, Gold and Platinum. That means small, consistent improvements move you past a surprising number of players. Climbing from Silver to Gold alone jumps you ahead of roughly a fifth of the entire ladder.

Emerald, added between Platinum and Diamond, absorbed much of the old Diamond population — which is why reaching genuine Diamond today puts you in roughly the top 11% of players. Master and above is the rarefied air of the top ~3%.
